Why the pipe objects
Butter is liquid only while warm. It cools into a fatty coating that can narrow pipes and trap food.

Do this instead
Let it solidify, then scrape it into the trash or save clean butter for reuse.

Do not chase it with boiling water or chemical drain cleaner. If drainage changes, stop using the fixture and contact a plumber.
