Why the pipe objects
Used oil can contaminate wastewater and septic systems. It may also carry toxic contaminants from engine use.

Keep it in a clean, leak-proof labeled container. Take it to a local used-oil recycler, auto shop or household hazardous-waste program that accepts it.

Do not mix it with cleaners, fuel or solvents. Contain the remaining oil and contact your local wastewater or environmental authority for spill-specific instructions.
