Why the pipe objects
Starter is a wet flour paste. It can cling to plumbing and trap more solids as it thickens.

Do this instead
Use discard in a recipe, compost it where accepted, or seal a small amount in the trash.

Wipe up what remains instead of adding more water and flour. If a large quantity went down or drainage changes, call a plumber.
